Business Strategy and Growth
EnviroStrat has extensive experience in growing businesses through Mergers and acquisitions, regulatory change, and capital raising. This includes:

- Mergers & Acquisitions
- Led due diligence for a NZ$55 Million acquisition in the marine sector
- Led change programme for US$1 Billion acquisition in the energy sector capable of running 25% of New York’s power supply
- Led integration for a US$5 Billion merger in the energy sector, providing 25% of New York, and 50% of Boston electricity demand
- Regulatory Change
- Programme manager for creation of a new public sector entity in New Zealand
- Business Planning
- Prepared a long term business plan for global growth of the Fishery Performance Indicator toolset, on behalf of the World Bank
- Capital Raising & Execution of Business Strategy
- Raised over NZ$1 Million to allow execution of a business strategy in a tourism business in New Zealand
Project and Programme Management
EnviroStrat has led the execution of strategic change and regulatory-driven initiatives in multiple sectors around the world over the past two decades, including:
- creation of new entities
- major programme mobilisation
- project rescue
- project health checks
These initiatives have invariably been complex, time sensitive and high pressure, and the capability and experience of EnviroStrat ensures delivery to time, quality and cost
Previous projects include:
- Responsible for leading the Ministry for the Environment team establishing an Environmental Protection Authority.
- Developed the long term operating model
- Led inter-agency consultation
- Created organisational impact assessment, and transition plan for the EPA
- Developed all new systems, processes and functional requirements for day one of operation
- Leading the development and drafting of a long term Restoration Strategy that will prioritise and guide future investment in restoration activities for the Waikato River Authority, river iwi, councils and industry. It will ultimately provide for the attainment of the Vision and Strategy for the Waikato River, which is the guiding document that underpins freshwater management in NZ’s largest watershed.
Strategy, Policy and Evaluation
EnviroStrat has a long track record in developing strategy, public policy, and running organisational and programme evaluations around the world, including:
- Creating international and national strategies
- Assessing effectiveness of programmes and institutions
- Creating and implementing new policy
Previous projects include:
- Lead author of a cross-UN paper Blueprint for Ocean Sustainability that provided the collective UN agency input to the Rio +20 Earth Summit.
- Lead reviewer of mid term assessment for three, multi-year Primary Growth Partnership funded programmes, collectively worth in excess of $50M.
Complex Stakeholder Engagement
EnviroStrat frequently works with clients planning and executing strategies for complex stakeholder engagement. This includes situations where multiple parties have seemingly intractable positions that appear to be leading to conflict.
Inevitably we find that clear and consistent planning, understanding of the various stakeholder positions, and a willingness to genuinely engage and consult will identify a path forward that works for the different perspectives.
